Early Detection of Hypertension Risk Factors Through the e-DESI Application Using Self-assessment Paradigm
Main Article Content
Abstract
Introduction: Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that is a risk factor for damage to vital organs that occurs without clinical symptoms so sufferers are often found in conditions with serious complications that result in death (Silent Killer). The number of hypertensive sufferers always increases every year, causing quite a large burden on national finances. And then the number of undetected people was a problem that requires massive early detection. Therefore, this study aims to determine the diagnostic yield of screening hypertension risk factor using self-assessment paradigm. Materials and methods: This research is analytical and quantitative. The sample for this study was the people of East Java Province who filled out the e-DESI application in April - September 2023. The relationship between risk factors and hypertension suspected was analyzed using Chi-Square. Results: There were 3428 e-DESI users with 26% of users suspected having hypertension risk factor. The risk factors or symptoms that most users were likes animal-based fatty foods (45.2%), likes salty food (41.4%), and a history of hypertension in parents (41.8%). From the results of statistical analysis, it was found that there was a significant relationship (p < 0.001) between all risk factors and symptoms in users with the suspected having hypertension risk factor. Conclusion: e-DESI can increase the rate of discovery of hypertension risk factors in the community, so it has potential to be a hypertension risk factor screening tool.
