The Efficacy and Safety of Electroconvulsive Therapy in a Pregnant Mother With Schizoaffective Disorder During the First Trimester: A Case Report
Main Article Content
Abstract
Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is an effective and safe therapeutic option for psychiatric disorders, including schizoaffective disorder. This case report aims to contribute valuable insights into the treatment of ECT in schizoaffective disorder pregnant mothers during the first trimester. We present a 28-year-old pregnant mother with schizoaffective disorder who portrays the efficacy and safety of ECT in the first trimester. This case also highlights the need for a multidisciplinary approach involving obstetrics, psychiatry, and anaesthesiology to evaluate the entire risk-benefit ratio of ECT.
